Heart and Soul of PiyaaInterior. Here is how she defines “DESIGN”.
“As a child, I dreamed of living inside the pictures I drew.
And today,
that dream has come true”
K.Som Piyasiri CEO of Piyaainterior

Tell us more about PiyaaInterior.
Drawing has been my first love for as long as I can remember, and I still dream of stepping through the page to inhabit the worlds I sketch, an experience all at once exhilaratingly freeing and quietly confining.

Tell us about your design signature.
I would like to think of my design signature as sweet and feminine. For some reason my work always ends up with a little bit of a masculine accent. I guess there must be a masculine trait somewhere inside of me.

How do you keep your work from feeling monotonous?
Each project starts with the client brief, it sets the parameters. But we make a point of weaving in our own signature touch. Without that dash of individuality, every project would blur into a generic Pinterest scroll.

Can functionality and beauty coexist?
Definitely. Function grounds a design—without it, an object is only decoration. Beauty lifts the spirit without it, life feels bare. Woven together, purpose and poetry turn a piece into something that both works and moves us; when the two meet, design truly comes alive.

What’s the most important principle in your design work?
Fitness for purpose. Every space must first serve its reason for being. A home should feel inviting yet practical for daily life, exactly as the client imagines. A retail shop must express the brand’s spirit and guide customer flow. A show unit has to echo the project’s theme—and, above all, spark the buyer’s desire to own it.
What project would you consider your masterpiece?
I think the MedMen Cannabis project is the one I’m most proud of, because it gave me the freedom to express my own ideas. I was able to design in a way that truly reflects who I am.

How has collaborating with Space Edition influenced your design?
Absolutely. Getting to know each product and the story behind it revealed a level of thoughtfulness and detail that truly inspired me. It deepened my appreciation for design and strengthened my passion for both the creative process and the work itself.
